About us
PaddleWaves began with a simple idea: to share the most beautiful watches with the world, and to make collectible watches more accessible, more understandable, and more academically discussed.
We have always believed that a watch is worth talking about not only because of its price, but because of its story. Whether a piece costs a few hundred dollars or many millions, what interests us is the same: what makes it special, why collectors care, and what kind of cultural, historical, mechanical or aesthetic value it holds.
That belief continues to shape everything we do. PaddleWaves is not built around dealing. It is built around selection, study and taste. Every watch we present is one we genuinely admire — a piece chosen for its beauty, character, condition, originality and lasting significance. Together, they reflect our idea of what is most compelling to us in watch collecting.
Over time, as we shared more content and spoke with more collectors, one thing became clear: many people were deeply curious about vintage watches, but hesitant to step in. The category can feel opaque, intimidating and difficult to navigate. Questions of originality, condition and trust often stop collectors before they begin.
PaddleWaves was created in part to change that. We want to offer a platform where collectors can explore watches with greater confidence and enjoyment. Through trusted partners, careful sourcing and honest documentation, we aim to present each watch as clearly as possible. We want collecting to feel exciting — not anxious.
Just as importantly, we believe collecting should remain personal. The watches on PaddleWaves are not anonymous inventory to us. They are pieces we have chosen because they move us, because they represent something we value, and because we believe they deserve a thoughtful next home. In that sense, every watch we place is something we part with reluctantly.
We are drawn to rare vintage watches, from early Rolex Bubblebacks to unusual Patek Philippe dials of the 1940s, but also to interesting modern and independent watchmaking. What matters most is not the category alone, but whether a watch has presence, honesty, story and soul.
PaddleWaves exists for collectors who want to learn, to search, to compare, to decide well — and ultimately to live with watches that feel truly their own. Based in Hong Kong/Tokyo and working internationally, we offer collecting consultation, curated selections, private sourcing and editorial content for a growing community of thoughtful collectors.
