This Rolex ref. 6270 is the kind of watch that feels almost unreal. It’s widely regarded as the only manual-wind Daytona fitted with a factory baguette-cut diamond bezel and that small change completely transforms the watch.
At first glance, it sounds flashy. Baguette diamonds on a vintage Daytona? But the result is actually more restrained than you’d expect. The case remains the classic manual-wind Daytona case with brushed finishing, not overly polished or loud. That contrast — sharp diamonds against a tool-watch base, is precisely what makes it so powerful.
Produced in the 1980s in extremely small numbers (often cited as around 8–10 examples), the 6270 is considered one of the rarest Daytonas ever made. Many believe it was created as a special order for the Omani royal family. Some examples feature the Omani khanjar emblem engraved on the caseback, though not all of them carry the mark.
The 6270 represents a turning point. It shows Rolex beginning to push the Daytona beyond pure tool-watch territory and into full luxury. It wasn’t just about racing anymore: it was about status, exclusivity, and presence.
