WHAT IS SPECIAL
A 1930s Rolex waterproof “flatpack” wristwatch, reference 2765, complete with its original 90-year-old clam-shaped presentation box. And yes, that box matters.
In the early days, Rolex leaned heavily into the shell motif. The clam-shaped case and packaging were a visual nod to water resistance, reinforcing the Oyster concept long before modern marketing made it obvious. The symbolism was clear: like a shell protecting what’s inside, the case protects the movement.
What makes this example even more special is that it still retains its original period-correct certificate. Finding a vintage Rolex is one thing. Finding one with its original box and paperwork from the 1930s is on another level entirely.
The dial is signed “Pall Mall,” referencing the famous London district known for its high-end retailers and gentleman’s clubs. A retailer-signed dial from that era adds both charm and historical context: it tells you exactly where this watch once lived.
