WHAT IS SPECIAL

I always thought these Eberhard split seconds chronographs are unique.

Among all the crazy split-seconds chronographs based on Valjoux movements, Rolex’s 4113 exists in very small numbers, costs millions, and has an unwearable (for me) 44 mm case. Another brand, Universal Genève, made the A. Cairelli split-seconds, which is quite interesting for its use of a 24-hour dial, but it’s also 44 mm.

The Eberhard split-seconds, by contrast, is only 40 mm. It’s both sporty and comfortable to wear, making it a truly standalone choice among the very highest tier of vintage split-seconds chronographs. And among these, the most coveted design is the black-dial version with snail scale in the middle.
